Baby Nursery
I wanted to keep my son's nursery modern and not too babyish or themed, so he could easily grow into it. I found the Dwell Studio Alphabet crib sheets and adored the blue and brown color combination, so opted to incorporate the colors into the decor (they were also the colors of my shower and the birth announcements, so it's been the "theme" of my experience so far). However, I also wanted to mix in some brighter colors, so I chose orange as the main accent color (I'm also adding a bit of lime green). You can see the orange in the pictures (Avalisa) and the Wise Old Owl Mobile (Modern Nursery). Silver and metal accents are also present around the room, particularly in the contemporary light fixture (Sputnik from Inmod) and wall letters and numbers (Anthropologie). To keep the room from being too dark, I added a white bookcase (Target), white shelves (Container Store), a white cat nightlight (Offi), and a white end table/storage unit (Boom Design). I also put a lambskin rug (Costco) in front of the crib (Munire). I made the window valance from the crib bumper, which would otherwise go unused. The glider is the Monte Luca.
Some of the pictures here were taken before he came home from the hospital, and others were taken more recently, so the items in the pictures differ a bit here and there.

I love the color brown with other colors. This bedroom/nursery looks so modern, I love the color combo you did a great job.
1Ohhhh I love this! We just moved into our new house so our son just got his nursery. I'm still trying to figure out what I want to put on his walls.
2I love the art on the walls. It just feels like a happy place and relaxing all in one.
3looks great! love the light fixture.
4this is AMAZING! i absolutely love it. did you do this all by yourself??
5Fantastic! This is definitely something that a boy can grow with.
6Thanks, Jasi (and everyone else)! Yes, my husband and I did it all. He painted over Thanksgiving weekend (it took many hours because of the stripes with our bumpy walls, but he did a fab job) and I planned and picked out most everything else. I actually got most of the items on the internet--it's such a great place to find more unique things. I'm glad you like it. I'm quite pleased at the way it turned out. It's definitely the best room in my house.
macgirl, avalisa.com has some awesome artwork in various colors and patterns Check it out! It's not only for babies, either.
7wow. well this is seriously impressive. you might have yourself a new career here!
8Thanks for the link! We are striving for a more modern look as well. We got the Oeuf Classic crib from modernnursery.com I wish I would have went with some different bedding but got lazy (also intimidated by the grandma's) and just registered for something at babies r us. It's cute with sea creatures but I would have liked something less babyish. I would like to do some sort of silhouette sea stuff on the walls to try and get a more modern feel despite the cutesy bedding. I'm so inspired by you right now
9macgirl, looking back, I would have loved more modern furniture, like Oeuf. But the purchase was rather sudden last summer when my in-laws were in town (they bought us the crib) and I felt pressured to make a decision before I looked around online. Oh well. I think I was able to balance it out with a few other modern touches. I suppose all of one style can be boring sometimes, so maybe it's best. But I do love the artwork. Not sure if they have sea stuff on there, but some of the patterns could be cool. They do have fish in various colors: http://www.avalisa.com/product.aspx?pl=3&col=1&id=161. Paired with a patterned pic, it could be fun.
10Ooh, or the bubbles: http://www.avalisa.com/product.aspx?pl=3&col=3&id=76
11I'm so pimpin' his room!
12Very nice room!
13You did an amazing job; everything looks fantastic!
14Your son's room is so well thought-out and very nice! Good job.
15I completely love this! It's definitely not a typical (blue vs. pink) baby nursery, which is probably why I like it so much!
