This oddly placed wainscoating was installed by the previous owners. I'm not sure whether it will stay or if we will remove it later but I'm not going to tackle the removal and repair of the
plaster right now. It does create quite a lot of complications in hanging my MIL's art.
My MIL, now deceased, was born in 1907. She was the daughter of a successful merchant and, as such, was encouraged to attend post-secondary education. She chose to go to art school in Newark,
NJ, where she met my FIL in the mid-1920's. They married in the early thirties and did not have any children until the mid-40's.
This room, with it's eclectic collection of antiques, is her gallery.
