Hi everyone! We just bought this desk for our home office...We'd like to paint the walls a nice, relaxing color that goes with this furniture, but in a few years that room will probably be the nursery. Does anyone have any suggestions for colors that would work for both? We'd rather not have to paint again.

Juan Antonio Lopez
Givenchy
Antica Murrina Veneziana
I would suggest either of these colors with white trim. They are gender neutral too so you wouldn't have to paint again.
Apricot Flower 270B-4
1Personally I like the yellow that is in the original picture and yellow is always suitable for a nursery.
Beautiful desk by the way.
2I think the yellow is nice too, but when we first moved into our house our kitchen was painted yellow and we HATED it. So we're kind of nervous to mess with that color again. I'm really liking the apricot flower- i think that would look really nice next to the wood.
Do you think we should do some sort of wainscoting or a chair rail? i'm not confident that our little room can handle so much color
3thanks for the comment about the desk kim! we bought it at direct buy-- GREAT deal!
4i like the yellow in the picture or a paler shade of green.
5I like the idea of a paler shade on the walls to give more of a contrast to the dark wood. And as far as the wainscoting or chair rail goes.. I'm not sure. I think it might make the room look smaller - especially with that big desk in it now too. I think breaking up the wall like that would give a cramped feeling - just based on you saying it's a small room. Do you have a photoshop program you could play with to try those things out?
6Just remember that the colors look a little different on different screens. They're just general ideas.
My favorite is the orange with the dark wood.
7That desk is wonderful! I would go with a light sage green. I have several shades of sage in my home and although it has only been 2 years, I still love it. It matches with many things and looks wonderful with my dark wood floors with white accents. I also love your idea of a chair rail/wainscoting.
8what I meant to say was that a light sage green can match with many colors, not things....it looks lovely with pale pinks (girl) and reds/burgundies (boy)
9wow these are all great ideas! i have sage green in my bathroom (i posted pictures earlier) and on one wall in my living room, so bringing the color upstairs in a lighter shade would tie everything together...
but i'm still feeling the apricot flower! this is a lot tougher than i thought it would be. Kim- that's a really good point about the wainscoting making the room look smaller...i didn't think of that
10tweet, I just read your earlier response about direct buy....I am very curious about this as I have seen the commercials, you seem to be happy with the results??
11hanako- yeah, we're pretty happy- we got a kitchen table that was listed for $450 at one store for around $200 at directbuy-- and a tv stand that was around $500 for only $300ish...but the start-up fee is kind of steep. if you want more details private message me!
12Wow, thanks!
13so...in case anyone's curious, we've decided to paint the office restoration hardware's "silver sage" - i don't know how to post a swatch of the color like cocochic did, but you can see it on the restoration hardware website
thanks everyone for your input!! i'll post pictures
once we get it all put together
14wooohoo can't wait to see pics!!
15nice color!!! just looked it up - I think that will look awesome with the desk! and it goes nicely with your recent bathroom redo too!
16I think a sage green would be awesome and it's gender neutral too.
17very pretty color...I can't wait to see the results!
