I bought this armoire at my local salvation army for a little over $60. I had seen it a few times and really liked it, but kept thinking "well, if its still there next time..." then they dropped the price and I knew I had to take it. I really liked the shape, although I was not crazy about the color nor the hardware. I made plans to redo it in my head after the first time I laid my eyes on it. I sanded it, primed and painted and replaced the hardware. Unfortunately the only before picture I have was taken by my cellphone and isn't great quality. Here is what it looked like when I finished:

Ok, I have to edit this again to explain more: The hinges on the original armoire were either very old or custom, either way, I could not find new hinges to use in the same way, so I ended up spray painting the hinges silver. Also, I painted the inside of the armoire bright pink. I wanted to use a color other than black, and decided that I would use a color in the "oops" section at the paint store. I found a gallon of this bright pink for $5. The pink isn't a real great "match" to my living room-my couch is a deep, dark purple and the wood is all black, but I love that the pink contrasts so with those things. It's a big surprise for people the first time they open it (or see it open). You can see more pictures of this project, and of my other projects on my blog: aburlock.blogspot.com.
