Before & After - my Swedish Mora clock do over - I hope I don't regret it but it needed an update

I was really nervous about re painting this antique clock but there was so much varnish/paint on it that it would have been too difficult to sand out so I took a risk with some spray paint (3 cans) of "heirloom white" and I think it turned out nice!

Before and After: Boring China Cabinet to Fabulous Bookcase

We inherited this piece from a friend who was getting a new dining room set. My husband couldn't understand why I wanted the cabinet and not the dining table too. I explained I had a vision for my home office. I sanded it all down and painted it matte black, wallpapered the back, and had acrylic shelves made. It has set the tone for the room and now the "office" doesn't take away from the living room. It actually adds an extra layer of function to the room, at least I think so.
To see LittleLeo's finished project, .

I just could not narrow it down! Finally I discovered Inspired Design. Diane really helped me choose colors that work with my vision, furniture, art and personality. Here is the kitchen in process! All paint is from Sherwin Williams. Here is a link to the photos thus far. http://www.flickr.com/photos/44249767@N05/sets/72157622775397766/detail/

HELP! The paint needs to be chosen by Wednesday!

>Hi Reader,

I have been a voyeur at this site for quite some time and as such I have come to respect your design vision. I need your help ASAP! I recently experienced some water damage to my 1942 custom bungalow. As a result the wonderful insurance company has come through and has agreed to re-install new hardwood floors in my dining room and living room, paint the entire kitchen (including cabinets) laundry room, dining room, living room and to install a new kitchen floor. My problem is choosing paint color for my rooms! I am so overwhelmed with all the options I have been researching. I am posting pictures in the gallery and hopefully here too but it is difficult to get a feel for the space because there is no furniture or art or anything personal in the rooms! So I guess I had better give you some idea what our idea of a comfortable space looks like. We are eclectic in our tastes. Mixed antiques and modern midcentury pieces are scattered about. I collect Shag prints, which are bold and bright with lots of oranges and greens. I also collect tikis but HATE the beachy thing. My husband is an airbrush artist and tends toward bold deep color. Now the house. We have 8 foot ceiling in the living area and dining area with coved ceilings and curved walls. I am installing recessed lighting in all three rooms. The red kitchen island that sits in the dining room in the pictures obviously belongs in the kitchen and well be painted as well. Lots of nooks and crannies and built in cabinets and bookcases scattered about. Give it your best shot! HELP me pick some amazing paint color and I will post the finished result for your viewing pleasure! P.S. I am looking for a chesterfield sofa for the living room in what I envision to be olive green leather. Any ideas? Here is a link to the Flicker site for some pics! http://www.flickr.com/photos/44249767@N05/?saved=1

DIY: Green Shelves

I had fallen in love with these CB2 shelves, I wasn't keen on that exact color but I loved the shape. I debated on buying two and repainting them but at $200 a piece that was a little more than I was willing to spend. So I started my search for a shelving unit that would work on this extra large wall of mine. I tried craigslist but came up with nothing. I happened to browse through ikea and found a series called Lerberg. They were a little smaller than the cb2 but with a little paint could be whatever color and for three (enough to cover the wall) a mere $60.00. So, I got to work and bought three shelves and three cans of lime green paint. I am thrilled with the final product and definitely pop with color!

Help!

I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but here it goes. . . I am moving into an aweseome new apt. in a converted Victorian house. Yay! Now comes the hard part. My boyfriend and I are inheriting a lot of mismatched furniture and while I some stylish pieces, I feel like I'm lost in a sea of jumbled pieces. The newest addition is a burgundy chair my mother got at a garage sale for $50. Awesome right?
Problem is I'm not a huge fan of burgundy (in clothes yes, furniture? hmmm) Not only is it burgundy, its bulky. My boyfriend loves it for its comfort and I have no idea what to do with it. My theoretical color scheme involved grays, golds, whites, neutrals, dark wood, no burgundy! So my question is, can someone suggest a nice color palette that would match with burgundy (in keeping with the other colors I had in mind, or something like them) or should I just give up and get a slip cover? I am looking to purchase a cover for our other couch, a rug and pillows so those are the questions of color I have in mind. Thank you so much for any help!

P.S. This is not in my home, I have hardwood floors and taupe walls.
