With our patio project completed, my husband and I were more than encouraged to spruce up the rest of the yard behind our house. This is, more or less, a work in progress but we have made significant strides. The final intent of the space as a whole goes well beyond it being a rather lovely outdoor area to relax and entertain.

I LOVE Williams Sonoma, and if I were a millionaire I'd happily choose staples from their collection for my home. Sadly, I'm not, so I tend to look at more lowbrow furniture sites when considering a new piece. Still, I do like to fantasize occasionally and view the Williams-Sonoma furniture, so imagine my surprise when I saw a chair that looked just like one I'd spied on a cheaper site the day before!

>Hi Reader,
I have been a voyeur at this site for quite some time and as such I have come to respect your design vision. I need your help ASAP! I recently experienced some water damage to my 1942 custom bungalow. As a result the wonderful insurance company has come through and has agreed to re-install new hardwood floors in my dining room and living room, paint the entire kitchen (including cabinets) laundry room, dining room, living room and to install a new kitchen floor. My problem is choosing paint color for my rooms! I am so overwhelmed with all the options I have been researching. I am posting pictures in the gallery and hopefully here too but it is difficult to get a feel for the space because there is no furniture or art or anything personal in the rooms! So I guess I had better give you some idea what our idea of a comfortable space looks like. We are eclectic in our tastes. Mixed antiques and modern midcentury pieces are scattered about. I collect Shag prints, which are bold and bright with lots of oranges and greens. I also collect tikis but HATE the beachy thing. My husband is an airbrush artist and tends toward bold deep color. Now the house. We have 8 foot ceiling in the living area and dining area with coved ceilings and curved walls. I am installing recessed lighting in all three rooms. The red kitchen island that sits in the dining room in the pictures obviously belongs in the kitchen and well be painted as well. Lots of nooks and crannies and built in cabinets and bookcases scattered about. Give it your best shot! HELP me pick some amazing paint color and I will post the finished result for your viewing pleasure! P.S. I am looking for a chesterfield sofa for the living room in what I envision to be olive green leather. Any ideas? Here is a link to the Flicker site for some pics! http://www.flickr.com/photos/44249767@N05/?saved=1

I don't have too many pictures of our view but the house we're renting right now backs up to a conservation area. It's quite lovely, despite the influx of mosquitoes due to the wetlands. It's nice to hear the frogs and crickets at night or watch the fireflies play out in the thick foliage.

My boyfriend's brother is coming to visit us next weekend, and we kind of let our place go over the holidays, so today we cleaned our asses off. And, maybe it's because I'm totally hormonal, but as I dusted, scrubbed, swept, and straightened every nook and cranny of our apartment, I realized that I hate almost everything we own.
When we moved in, almost a year and a half ago, I had all these lofty decorating plans, but a week later we got the puppy, and he was SO much work (and SO much money because of his surgery) that I put off spending any time or money on the apartment.

I've been doing a little [okay - a lot] of pre-shopping on Crate & Barrel's website, focusing on a rug for our living room. The room has very odd dimensions, being 27' long and only 11' wide, so I've decided to go with an area rug. Sizes seem to be very limited in the styles that I find most attractive and so I've put Photoshop to work to see which would work best in my room.

toys move along on the belt (falling into santa's bag) and "toyland" plays. Our tree. A train runs around the bottom, which means packages are in front of the fire place. The bear is 5 feet tall and sings different christmas songs. His mouth moves and he dances. Not our house.
